The Pointy End
I think Sansa just made everything worse by pleading for her father’s life. It’s obvious she doesn’t have a chance with Joffrey anymore. They consider Eddard Stark a traitor and she is basically worth nothing to them now.
Syrio Forel was awesome! I liked how he fended off 3 or 4 knights with a wooden sword and protecting Arya. I wonder if he survived his fight against Ser Meryn Trant of the Kingsguard.
Once again Tyrion proves how cunning and convincing he is. He might be a dwarf, but his mind is sharp as his brother’s sword. I’m impressed!
Uh direwolf sightings! Grey Wind and Ghost. They are still awfully cute, but uh they are quite dangerous at this point. I believe Grey Wind bit off two of Gretjon Umber’s fingers. Ghost is a pretty perceptive wolf since he sensed what was going to happen to Lord Commander Mormont.
I have one problem and that is I barely understood what the actor who played Greatjon Umber said which is a shame. I guess it’s good that I’ve read the books.
My heart swelled when Robb declared he would go to King’s Landing as Joffrey wanted – with his bannermen. It was a beautiful sight when the ravens left Winterfell. I think it was great they showed the house sigils of the North during the feast. House Hornwood (moose head on yellow), Bolton (flayed man), Umber (silver chains on red), and Karstark (white sunburst on black) are clearly seen. It broadens the viewers horizon to other houses and not just the main ones like Lannister, Stark and Baratheon.
Jon Snow did the exact opposite of what Lord Commander Mormont told him to after Ser Alliser Thorne made a jab at him and his father. If I’m not mistaken he treats all recruits badly, but he has some history with the Starks going back to Robert’s Rebellion. I believe he was a supporter of King Aerys Targaryen and was sent to the Night’s Watch against his will after Robert was crowned king of the Seven Kingdoms.
I still don’t care much for Daenerys or her storyline in Essos. I already know that Khal Drogo is going to die within the next few episodes. It was kind of stupid of him to let himself get wounded.
Oh I could have done without seeing Hodor naked. I have never seen anyone that pale before and I’d rather not see it again. On the other hand I like Osha more and more everytime she speaks.
I’m looking forward to season two where Theon Greyjoy will play a larger role because House Greyjoy is my favorite house.
No Jaime Lannister in the episode because he was busy taking Riverrun and make life hard for Lady Catelyn Stark’s family.
